Meet Our Rescue Family
GupGup
a.k.a. Goopy Whoops, Archduke Gupperton von Snacks the First, Guppers, Gooey Wooey, Goops
Adopted: August 2016
Likes:
kissing you
cuddling EPICALLY
food, any food, all food, food please, more food!
Dislikes: Being told not to eat that.
About: We adopted GupGup from Pugalug Pug Rescue, the same place that we adopted Hummus from. He settled in the fastest out of all the dogs we've ever adopted, he's so happy and easygoing and ready to enjoy life and cuddle and eat. He is an absolute joy all the time.
Midge
a.k.a. Midge, Tiny Potato, Chonky Baby, Muffinface, Nugget
Adopted: September 2019
Likes:
eating anything she can find on the street
butt scratches
licking
snackies
major snuggles
Dislikes: Shut doors & personal space
About: Midge came to us from Under My Wing Pug Rescue and we won the lottery with this tiny nugget! She is so round and squat and sweet you just want to squish and squeeze her! When she gets excited she does funny little play bows but she isn’t sure what to do after the bowing! She’s another senior in our midst, and I hope seeing this spritely, ridiculous little lady will inspire others to adopt older animals too!
Luke
a.k.a. Big Guy, The tuskless walrus, (previously named Jake)
Adopted: March 2014
Passed Away: September 2014, Gone from our lives too soon, only 6 months with this gorgeous soul
Likes:
the big bed
naps
belly rubs
staring into your eyes
having you insert treats directly into his mouth under his fat lips!
Dislikes: Long walks, being told to get off the table
About: Luke (previously named Jake) came to us from Under My Wing Pug Rescue in Ottawa with his sister, Leia (previously named Jill). He is a senior, and a super duper slow pokey old man with a billion pounds of love to give. He is a snugglebug, very gentle and loving, and he accepted his new brother Miso immediately. He also makes a hilarious baby gerbil noise when we come home, instead of whining like an actual dog :)
Leia
a.k.a. Darling, Monsterface, Little Lady, General
Adopted: March 2014
Passed Away: May 2017. The most opinionated spicy little meatball I ever met and we miss her every single day. Lovely lady made it to 16 years and feisty to the last!
Likes:
getting patted on the head
being talked to
treats
being carried around
bossing me around
Dislikes: Long walks, jumping/stairs, you leaving the room without her
About: Leia (previously named Jill) came to us from Under My Wing Pug Rescue in Ottawa with her brother Luke (previously named Jake). She is a senior girl, and is a hilarious gremlin with tons of personality. She makes crazy noises all the time, gives lots of kisses, and when you stop petting her head, she will paw you to keep the love coming. She's a very funny girl! And pretty darn bossy too!!
Hummus
a.k.a. “The Caveman”, Hummy Wums, Potato, Hum Hum, Humbug, Humbum
Birthday: November 24, 2002
Passed Away: March 4, 2014 We miss him every day.
Likes:
YOU! All of you!
sitting on your lap facing outward
giving kisses
getting belly tickles.
Dislikes: Not touching you all the time.
About: Hummus has 3 brain cells. One to do basic eat, sleep, walk functions, one to give as much love as possible in as much time as he's got to give it, and the most powerful brain cell he has is to watch Miso's reactions to things going on the house, and copy him. Hummus is also a rescue coming to us from the Pugalug Rescue, a registered charity organization in Toronto. Hummus had a hard time growing up in a puppymill in Kansas, but found his way to our home when he was 5 years old. When he was put on the Pugalug webpage I knew he had to be ours and was meant to come home with us, and luckily he did! I took one look at his epically large forehead and I was hooked!
Miso
a.k.a. “The Rocket Scientist”, Moosh Poosh, Meeses Pieces, Jube Jube, Moo Moo, Miso Peeso... he has more nicknames than I can possibly list!
Birthday: March 16, 2002
Likes:
eating grass
snorting
sleeping upside down
snuggling
eagle-eyeing the floor on taco night to catch any fallen debris!
Dislikes: Hearing babies cry on TV & bird noises.
About: Miso is the brains of the operation, clearly besting Hummus in all intellectual pursuits. He knows so many words that the people of the house spell worlds too often, change entire sentences to be vague or in another language so he won't know what we're saying, and have to stop people from using "out" "food" "walk" "side" "who's that?" "eat" "dinner" "supper" and so many other words in general conversation. He knows the special ring on our phone that indicates someone is downstairs, the buzzer code and apartment number of our unit, and is the sneakiest ninja in pug disguise you'll ever meet! I brought Miso home when he was 8 weeks old and that was in 2003, so we have been an inseparable pair for a long time.
